Ryazan State Medical University is one of the largest profile institutions of higher education in the Central Federal district of Russia, a lot of highly qualified specialists have been prepared for native system of public health over a period of more than fifty years.

The University has a modernized management structure, well-equipped material and technical basis; it applies modern technology of educational and scientific activity and clinical practice.

Nowadays the University realizes instruction of specialists in 10 programs of higher education, most popular of them are “General medicine”, “Pharmacy”, “Dentistry”; trains for intership-30 different specialties, residency- 57 specialties, post-graduate course – 38 specialties; doctorate – 4 specialties, provides retraining and advanced training courses. 

Scientific and professional potential of the University is considerable. Among the professors there are 23 academicians, 7 honored scientific workers of Russian Federation, 10 honored doctors of Russian Federation, an honored inventor, 24 main specialists of the city and Ryazan region, majority of the teachers are the members of the regional doctors associations.

 

Scientific authority of the University won the international recognition. University professors are the members of European expanded society, international pulmonary organizations GOLD, GINA, ICC, European respiratory society. A group of scientists under the direction of Professor Abrosimov N.V. takes part in a realization of the World health organization project «GARD» (Global Alliance against Chronic Respiratory Diseases).

Priority of the research activities of the University is the basis of its competitiveness at the regional and federal levels. Scientific Schools of the University are recognized both in Russia and abroad. Every year are carried out fundamental researches on international, federal and provincial grants, functioning of 3 dissertations Councils, publishing of “Russian Medical and Biological Herald named after the academician I.P. Pavlov” reviewed by the Higher Attestation Commission.

On the basis of the University are functioning Central Research Complex, basic dental and consultative-diagnostic polyclinic. The university has a license to engage in therapeutic activities on a number of specialties.

Quantitatively enlarging its possibilities, the University carries about quality of offered services as well. In 2009 the University has successfully passed a certification on the Quality Management System (QMS), introduced on the basis of the national standard GOST Р 52614.2-2006 and the international standard ISO series 9001:2000, which has demonstrated the Russian and international community of its compliance with all international standards of quality.

The University is listed in the section “The Elite of Russian Health” of the Russian National Register “Hundred best institutions of the health care system” is a laureate of the award “Profession-Life” in the nomination “Medical school of the year” and the international award “European Quality”.

Innovative methods and means of teaching are widely used in the educational process, are being actively implemented the latest technology of educational activity: point-rating system of assessing students' knowledge, online testing, actively initiated by the academic mobility of students and teachers.

In difficult economic circumstances university pays great attention to the development of socio-cultural sphere: the provision of material assistance to needy students and staff, enhance their health, creating a comfortable social conditions of work and rest.

Currently, Ryazan State Medical University is a well-established modern system of training of qualified medical staff, open to cooperation in all areas of its activities.
